2015 Spring Goalkeeper Camp

2015 Brookside St. Pat's Parade

Brookside Soccer Club’s competitive goalkeeper coach Jason Jacob is proud to present this first ever one-hour clinic for all BSC goalkeepers. Coach Jacob has a great wealth of knowledge about the game of soccer and is a phenomenal coach for both field players and goalies.

The clinic is 6-7 pm Wednesday, Mar. 18, 2015 and is open to any BSC recreational players/goalies who want to hone their basic knowledge of the position prior to the start of the recreational league.

Who: 3rd to 8th grade recreational boys and girls

Once again, Brookside Soccer Club will participate in Brookside’s 35th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Warm-Up Parade at 2 pm Saturday, March 14.

Free Recreational Coaches Clinic

2015 Spring Rec Pre-Season Camp

A free coaching clinic is scheduled from 5:30-7 pm Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at Swope Soccer Village on Field 1 North.

The 90-minute clinic will be taught by BSC’s Youth Development Director and Coach Jason Lee. It is designed to help coaches encourage creative freedom and guided discovery with the ball.

Coach Jason will lead a warm-up and other drills/exercises designed to keep players engaged, out of lines and on their toes. Coaches of all experience are highly encouraged to attend.

In order for each coach to participate, they must add themselves as a participant in our registration system. This is done the same way when adding another player in that account. See the steps below:

•Log in (or create an account) on our registration system HERE.
•Add your information using “Add Participant” under the Registration Tab and complete the required fields.
•Select Next.
•On the “Available Programs” page, choose the Spring Coaching Clinic listing. Each coach registers separately.
•Select Next.
•There is no cost to participate in the coaching clinic.

Brookside Soccer Club is offering its recreational players a chance go get back into game sharpness before the season even begins! Sign up and come out to knock the dust off those cleats and get in on the fun even earlier!

The co-ed camp is from 5-7 pm Tuesday, Mar. 17, 2015 for 1st – 8th grade recreational division at Swope Soccer Village. We will focus on individual ball skills and techniques along with fun, small-sided games.

The co-ed groups (broken down by grade) will practice together: 1st/2nd; 3rd/4th; 5th/6th; and 7th/8th.

We are limited to 20 players per group, so sign up HERE now. The camp is $25 per player.

2015 Spring Rec League Coaches Meeting

Referee Training Clinic

All new and returning Recreational League coaches are invited to a coaches meeting on Saturday, Feb. 28 at UMKC, in Miller Nichols Learning Center, Room 151. The Learning Center is attached to the school’s library at 51st Street & Rockhill Road. Please note this is a change in location from previous meetings. You can see a map of UMKC here.

The meeting is intended to inform coaches of valuable information about our upcoming 2015 Spring season. Coaches are asked to please attend the 1-hour meeting in order for us to reach all coaches in one setting. This allows everyone’s questions to be answered by our executive director and community relations director.

The meetings are scheduled as follows:

  • 10-11 am Saturday, Feb. 28 — coaches for the Pre-K/Kindergarten divisions
  • 11:30 am-12:30 pm Saturday, Feb. 28 — coaches in grades 1st through 8th grade divisions
  • 1-2 pm: An optional on-field session will be held on UMKC’s Durwood Soccer Stadium for coaches interested in getting a few hints on practice drills, etc.

If you are interested in becoming a referee for Brookside Soccer Club, our next referee training clinic is 8 am-4 pm Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015 at UMKC. The returning referee meeting is from 1-2:30 pm on the same date and same location. Please click HERE for details.

Fall Specialty Coaching

The NAIA is offering another Coach it Right Soccer clinicIMG_9601 and it’s fast approaching.

Coaches can sign up HERE for the clinic, which is on Saturday, Feb. 14.

Coaches can receive their KS and MO youth coaching certificate at this clinic! Champions of Character helps to promote the five core values the NAIA focuses on, assuring all coaches and players are equipped with the right tools to succeed — on and off the field. This clinic helps to provide all the necessary knowledge for coaches and their upcoming seasons.

Player Clinic with KC Comets

Ages:    5-12
The UMKC Athletics Department has partnered with the Missouri Comets to host a soccer clinic at Durwood Stadium, located on UMKC’s campus. The clinic is for boys and girls ages 5-12 and will include drills, learning and lots of fun.

Following the clinic, the Comets players in attendance at the clinic will host an autograph and photo session. The cost is $10 per player, and includes two tickets to the UMKC Men’s Soccer game that will start at 3 pm that day.

Referee Class

Approximately 40 new and 25 returning Brookside Soccer Club referees attended a training class on August 9th at UMKC. Beginner and veteran referees attended BSC’s Referee Training Clinic on the rules and regulations specific to competitive youth soccer prior to the start of BSC’s Fall 2014 Recreational League. Beginning referees must attend the meeting and pass the referee course test in order to qualify to shadow as a BSC referee.

Kicks with Nick

2014 Mini Stars

Kicks with Nick consists of two mini clinics (one session is free; second session is paid) and are held by competitive coaching staff for recreational players wanting to improve their skills. Sessions are held each spring and fall at Swope Soccer Village.

BSC’s Executive Director Nick Garcia brings his soccer expertise and his experience of 11 seasons in the MLS to Kansas City’s youth in a truly special opportunity.

Brookside Soccer Club’s summer Mini Stars camp is a condensed introduction to soccer for ages 2-5. The primary focus of this camp was on ball control, balance, coordination, and most of all, having fun!

2014 Summer Skills Camp

Our Summer Skills Camp was a four-day camp that focused on individual balls skills. The main focus was on ball control and practiced various foot skills to help the campers to increase their confidence with the ball.
